Esteban Patiño and Antía Castro, winners of the 10th ProFuturo Race with record turnout
The ProFuturo Run, the educational innovation project with technology promoted by Fundación Telefónica and Fundación La Caixa, celebrated its tenth anniversary yeste rday with a participation record on the streets of Madrid. 3,000 runners crossed the start line at Plaza de Colón to take on a spectacular 5‑kilometer course through the heart of the Spanish capital (passing through Gran Vía, Puerta del Sol and Cibeles).
The victory in the 10th edition of the ProFuturo Run was contested until the very end in both categories. The winner among the men was Esteban Patiño, who with a time of 15:29 prevailed over Kike Guerrero, second with 15:35, and Iván Eduardo Castro, third with 15:58. The iconic Madrid athlete Chema Martínez, a regular at the event, finished fifth with a time of 16:43. The double marathon world champion Abel Antón also took part in the race.
In the women’s category the excitement was also guaranteed until the finish. The young Antía Castro won with a time of 17:45, eight seconds faster than Inés Herault (17:53), who finished second. Candela Blázquez completed the podium with a time of 18:04.
