The 9th ProFuturo Race brings together 3,000 runners for digital inclusion
Under the motto #RunnersConCausa, and with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of guaranteeing quality education in the most vulnerable schools around the world, the 9th ProFuturo Race was held today, a family-friendly and inclusive event for all ages, which takes place alongside the Movistar Madrid Half Marathon.
This year, 3,000 runners took part in the ProFuturo Race, joining this solidarity cause that seeks to highlight digital inclusion for children in vulnerable environments around the world. The 5‑kilometer race is another step in the effort to reduce the educational and digital gap in 30 countries and counts on the active participation of thousands of people committed to a fairer future for everyone.
Regarding the winners of the ProFuturo Race, the charity event of the Movistar Madrid Half Marathon, in the women’s category the top spot went to Leire Castrejón Valero, from the San Sebastian de los Reyes Clínicas Menorca team. Second place went to Olga Jiménez Rodríguez, representing Atletismo Ecosport, and third place to Katia Mazarías Álvarez. In the men’s category, first place went to Pedro Vega Ballesteros, from the JOMA team, followed by Lehsen Sidhamed Ahmed, from Núñez Run, in second place. Finally, third place went to Diego Zazo Sáez, from the Puente Romanillos team.
ProFuturo Race, a charity run for education
ProFuturo is an educational innovation program using technology launched by Fundación Telefónica and Fundación “la Caixa” to reduce the educational gap worldwide by providing quality education to children in vulnerable environments in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. Its intervention model is based on impact evidence obtained through continuous monitoring processes, studies, and evaluations.
