The Movistar Madrid Half Marathon 2024 and the ProFuturo Run unveil their official Joma race shirts
The Movistar Madrid Half Marathon and the ProFuturo Race have presented today at Distrito Telefónica their highly anticipated official 2024 Joma race shirts that will be worn by registered participants starting on April 7, the date of the event.
The shirts were unveiled by Rocío Rey, sponsorship manager at Telefónica; Magdalena Brier, general director of ProFuturo; Mónica del Arco, marketing director at Joma; Eduardo Ajuria, president of Agrupación Deportiva Marathon; and attending as institutional representatives were Ricardo Echeita, general director of Sports of the Madrid City Council; and Alberto Tomé, general director of Sports of the Community of Madrid. The first athletes to wear them today at the official presentation were Madrid marathoner Clara Simal and Héctor José Escalona, both members of Agrupación Deportiva Marathon.
The garments have been made following the highest standards of quality and technology, to help runners perform at their best during training and races. They are made 100% from recycled polyester, a fabric produced from reused sources, mainly PET bottles, which are turned into raw material. This reduces CO2 emissions by 75% and avoids the use of petroleum. Among the benefits of this fabric are lightness, breathability, and durability. In addition, by using flat “Flatlock” seams in the most sensitive areas, any type of chafing or irritation that may appear on the skin is prevented.
The Movistar Madrid Half Marathon 2024 and the ProFuturo Race will take place next April 7 and there are already more than 12,000 registered runners for the 21.097-meter race over 3 months before the event, so an increase in participation compared to recent years is expected.
In the coming weeks, other very interesting updates will also be announced that will enhance the genuine Madrid half marathon coinciding with the special events held for the Telefónica Centennial.
In the latest edition of the Movistar Madrid Half Marathon, strong results were achieved such as that of Kenyan runner Hyllary Kipkoech, who besides taking the win broke the one-hour barrier (59:56). In the women’s category, Ethiopian athlete Zewditu Aderaw Gelaw won the race brilliantly, stopping the clock at 1h07:38.
The Movistar Madrid Half Marathon maintains the “Road Race Label” from the international federation World Athletics, which includes it in its official road race calendar, and it was named by the Madrid City Council as an “event of general interest for the city,” as it is one of the most iconic and traditional races in the country.
The race is organized by Agrupación Deportiva Marathon, Atresmedia, and Sport Life Ibérica, with main sponsorship from Movistar and institutional support from the Madrid City Council and Community of Madrid. Joma Sport is the technical sponsor and AhorraMás, Rafaelhoteles, Alquiber, and Deloitte collaborate.
