THE PROFUTURO RACE OPENS REGISTRATION AND ANNOUNCES ITS DATE

The Movistar Madrid Half Marathon and the ProFuturo Race will return to the Madrid sporting calendar on April 7, 2024, and it is now possible to register at special promotional prices on the websites movistarmadridmediomaraton.es and carrerafundacionprofuturo.com for both the 21.097‑meter race and the 5.8 km ProFuturo charity run, which take place simultaneously and which this year drew 19,000 runners between the two events.

The revamped and monumental course through the center of Madrid, which has been so well received by recreational runners and elites, will be maintained, with the goal of continuing to grow and improving services and support for all participants.

In the latest edition of the Movistar Madrid Half Marathon, excellent times were achieved in the men's category, highlighted by Kenyan Hyllary Kipkoech, who not only won but also posted a great time under the hour (59:56), coming very close to his personal best. In the women's category, Ethiopian Zewditu Aderaw Gelaw crossed the finish line in 1h07:38 to claim a brilliant victory.

The ProFuturo Race, held in parallel to the half marathon, was in 2023 a great sporting and charity celebration over 5.8 kilometers, with around 2,000 runners taking part, and it raised more than €19,000, which will be donated to the digital education program through which Fundación Telefónica and Fundación “la Caixa” help close the educational gap in isolated and at‑risk communities across 45 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. Abel Antón, Chema Martínez, triathlete Javier Gómez Noya and Paralympic athlete Lorenzo Albaladejo, considered the best athlete with cerebral palsy in the history of Spain in sprint events, completed the race.

The Movistar Madrid Half Marathon maintains the “Road Race Label” certification from the international federation World Athletics, and was named by the Madrid City Council as an “event of general interest for the city”, as it is one of the most iconic and traditional races in the country. It has been broadcast live on Movistar’s #Vamos channel.

The race is organized by Agrupación Deportiva Marathon, Atresmedia and Sport Life Ibérica, with Movistar as the main sponsor and with institutional support from the Madrid City Council and the Community of Madrid. Joma Sport is the technical sponsor and AhorraMás, Rafaelhoteles, Alquiber, Deloitte, Gourmet Latino, Physiorelax, Science in Sports SiS, Garmin, Olympia Quironsalud and Breathe Right collaborate.
